The North Carolina Pest Management Association (NCPMA) returned to Jamestown Park Golf Course on Sept. 30 for the 5th Annual Bug Cup Charity Golf Tournament. The organization raised $23,094.31 to support the NCPMA Extension Program Endowment in Honor of Mike Waldvogel and other NCPMA charities.

“The Bug Cup has become an annual tradition for North Carolina’s pest management industry, and we were thrilled to return to Jamestown for this year’s event. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, participants, and volunteers who made this tournament possible and helped us raise more than $23,000 for NCPMA’s charities and the NCPMA Extension Program Endowment in Honor of Mike Waldvogel,” said Kyle Franklin, Chair of the NCPMA Endowment Committee.

The North Carolina Chapter of the Professional Women in Pest Management Chapter sold tickets for a 50/50 raffle which donated $1,320 to Hopefulls, a nonprofit that provides high-quality, kid-friendly meals for children in need at elementary schools in Guilford County, Davidson County and Lexington City Schools.

The captain’s choice format provided golfers with multiple opportunities for fun and competition, including long drive, closest to the pin, putting, and a Beat the Ringer contest featuring Scott Newton of Hopefulls. Players also enjoyed complimentary coffee from a morning coffee cart, on-course snacks and beverages, and a BBQ lunch following the round.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the NCPMA Extension Program Endowment in Honor of Mike Waldvogel at North Carolina State University, which supports ongoing research and extension projects at North Carolina State University (NCSU) that directly benefit the pest management industry. Since its inception in 2022, the Bug Cup has raised nearly $100,000 for the Endowment.

On Sept. 29, the Bug Cup Kickoff Party at Topgolf Greensboro, hosted by WP Supply, raised an additional $2,000 in support of NCPMA initiatives.

The 2026 Bug Cup was made possible by 20 sponsors including its Title Sponsor, xrai labs.
